Remember the old days when we’d be dying for more Masters coverage and would have two settle for a couple of hours on Thursday and Friday? No more.
ESPN will be airing the first round today from 3pm to 7:30pm.
Beyond that expanded TV coverage, though, there is much more online at Masters.com. There, you’ll be able to view players on the range… coverage of Amen Corner… holes 15 & 16 … and two featured groups — Peter Hanson, Charl Schwartzel, and Webb Simpson … and K. J. Choi, Zach Johnson, and Graeme McDowell. That coverage begins at noon.
While I’m really looking forward to watching the best in the world tackle Merion in June, there is something extra-special about the Masters, which comes after a long winter and really kicks off the golf season and Spring. This is my favorite event of the year.
Poke around online and you’ll find some golf specials this weekend, many of them after noon (because most people want to play early then park themselves in front of the TV).
One example: At Ballamor you can play Saturday or Sunday afternoon for just $58 including cart (a $20 savings). A tee time is required… at 609-601-6220.
I have long said that if you really want a deal on golf equipment, buy the models from last year or the year before. But if you need the latest and greatest, this one is the best I’ve seen in some time. Rock Bottom Golf is having a sitewide 15% off sale… which takes the price of a TaylorMade R1 Driver down to $382.49. More info including the promo code is here. As the Masters’ defending champ likes to say in a commercial for another equipment manufacturer… you’re welcome.
Ed Abrams anchors mornings on KYW Newsradio, and you can hear his Golf Reports there on Fridays and Saturdays. He has also created a pair of websites: www.DealTrackerGolf.com, featuring leads on the best golf equipment deals… and www.TeeItUpPhilly.com, with video course tours, audio swing tips and local golf deals
