Mural Arts Launches 2013 Tour Season

By Community Affairs reporter Cherri Gregg

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - The Mural Arts Program launches its 2013 tour season Saturday.

The tour runs every Saturday in April, Saturday and Sundays in May and then five days a week beginning in June.

Director of tours and merchandise Dawn Frisby-Byers says there are several new tours, including two trolley tours.

"The 'Mural Arts Masterpiece' tour takes you to some of the best known works that Mural Arts has ever done, including the unbelievable 'Common Threads' which is an eight-story mural at Broad and Spring Garden, as well as 'Personal Renaissance' and the 'Tuskegee Airman' mural. We also created a tour called 'Mural Arts New Works,' where we showcase all the murals that we've done in the past three years. This includes 'How We Fish' at 8th and Cherry and 'Family Interrupted' at 7th & Dauphin," says Frisby-Byers.

There will also be special tours beginning with one celebrating Jazz Appreciation month on April 20th. Walking tours are $20 and trolley tours are $30 per person.
