Local Triathlon Club Tells Newcomers 'Don't Be Intimidated'

By Jim Melwert

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Triathlon is one of the fastest growing sports in the world, with distances varying from the shorter sprint, to full Ironman distances.

"Nobody was born a triathlete, everybody had to take the first step at some point," says Philadelphia Triathlon Club president Chris Camburn.

"The advice to a newcomer is don't be intimidated. Come on out, meet people, see how everyone is just like you and then have a whole lot of fun when it comes to doing your first race, your second race or your 100th race," he says.

Camburn says any newcomers are welcome to join Philly Tri Club for a happy hour Wednesday, 7 p.m., at Raven Lounge.
