'The Magic Flute'
By Lynne Adkins
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Opera Company of Philadelphia presents "The Magic Flute" from April 19th through the 28th.
Listen to the podcast below...
David Devan
Company president David Devan says it's a story about a boy growing up and looking for love.
"He is charged with going on a journey to win the favor of a girl, and there's a magic flute that helps him do that. And he goes through all these trials to ensure that he is good enough for this girl...now there's evil forces and there's dragons and the singing is spectacular," Devan explains.
"The evil queen of the night has this brutal aria, which has this insane note she has to hit, and singers are hired just to hit this one note," he adds.
