Volunteer Firefighter Sentenced For Arson In Gloucester County
DEPTFORD, N.J. (CBS) – Officials announced that a volunteer firefighter was sentenced for arson on Thursday.
Investigators say Michael S. Petrilak, of Deptford, was sentenced to five years after pleading guilty to taking gasoline from a Deptford firehouse and setting a vacant house on fire while he was a volunteer firefighter in Deptford Township, New Jersey.
According to officials, Petrilak acknowledged that setting the fire was outside of his duties and the only benefit he got from the incident was being able to fight a fire.
Prosecutors say Lewis R. Brooks, of Westville, pled guilty to conspiracy to commit aggravated arson and is scheduled for sentencing on May 3rd.
