Suspect Being Interviewed By South Jersey Police For Alleged Domestic Incident Brought Weapons Into Station

GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ (CBS) – A man being questioned at the Gloucester Township Police Station in connection to a domestic dispute was arrested after bringing weapons into the facility.

George Wahl, 50, was being questioned by officers at the station on Thursday for his role in a hit and run motor vehicle accident involving his ex-wife. The suspect had reportedly struck his ex-wife's car while she was driving it, though there were no injuries.

During the interview with Wahl, police learned he had attempted to fix his vehicle prior to showing up at the station for questioning. They also noticed there was a police-style expandable metal baton in Wahl's belt line under his shirt.

The baton was seized by officers and Wahl was taken into custody. Police also discovered Wahl was in possession of two folding knives.

When Wahl was asked why he'd brought the weapons, he told officers that he "brought the weapons to deal with police."

Wahl was processed and charged with Aggravated Assault charges from the domestic violence incident, and Weapons Offenses including being a Certains persons not to Possess a Weapon. Mr. Wahl was remanded to Camden County Jail in default of $50,000 full cash bail.
