Philly Soccer Show: Red Bulls Coach Mike Petke and Bidding Freddy Adu

By Greg Orlandini

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - The Philadelphia Union get back to work on MLS after a friendly against Pumas of the Mexican league, and the KYW Philly Soccer Show gets you ready.

Joining KYW's Greg Orlandini and Philly Soccer Page writer Eli Pearlman-Storch is the head coach of the Union's next opponent, New York Red Bulls Mike Petke. The former MLS defender is in his first year guiding Red Bells as they have struggled out of the gate in 2013. He talks about the teams early-season injury issues, developing younger players and what it means to be one of the crop of younger, former MLS players who have taken the coaching reigns around the league.

Greg and Eli then discuss the departure of Freddy Adu from the Union and the arrival of Brazilian midfielder Kleberson to the team. We look at where the team's new addition will fit on the squad.

And finally, we talk World Cup qualifiers as the US National Team beat Costa Rica in a blizzard in Colorado and then go on the road for a draw against arch-rival Mexico. They all this with a young and inexperienced defense and a goalkeeper in Brad Guzan playing in his first qualifiers.
