"It's pretty scary something that severe happened right here, it's pretty sad," said a neighbor.

Police say the father claims he heard a noise and found a stranger inside his apartment alone with his daughter, who says the man tried to hug and kiss her.

Police say the father punched the burglar and chased him for several blocks before losing him.

"It's horrible it no matter what, but the fact that it was a child makes it a lot worse," said another neighbor.
