Poll: Chris Christie Better As Governor Than President

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) — A new poll affirms Gov. Chris Christie's record-high popularity as New Jersey's governor, but also shows voters are split over whether he would make a good president.

The poll out Tuesday shows the Republican governor enjoying approval ratings of 70-plus percent for four months, the highest scores for a governor in seven states surveyed by Quinnipiac University Polling Institute.

But New Jersey voters are closely divided over whether Christie is presidential material. They're also split on whether he should stay in Trenton or run for president.

The governor is among the pool of potential candidates for the GOP presidential nomination in 2016.

The telephone survey of 1,129 registered voters was conducted March 19-24 with an error margin of plus or minus 2.9 percentage points.
