Fishtown Hosts 3rd Annual Chili Cookoff

By Mike Dougherty

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Hundreds of people turned out for the 3rd Annual Chili Cookoff in Fishtown on Sunday afternoon.

There were more than 20 chefs, both amateur and professional, competing for a trophy and bragging rights, but the big winners were the guests who carried their spoons from crock pot to crock pot, taking one tasty bite after another. One of the fan favorites was a brisket, smoked pork and beef based chili from Bubba's Texas BBQ in Fishtown.

"They have a really good cornbread salsa mixture that they put on top, which is really good, and just the flavors in general."

"It was a party in my mouth. It's like a summertime chili, nice and sweet perfect spice to it. All around it was just perfect."

The cookoff was organized by the Fishtown Neighbors Association. They say events like this one build community and it's part of the reason why they say Fishtown is an up and coming section of the city.

"It's a great way for everyone to come to the neighborhood and get some great chili, have some great beer and meet some good people."
