PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – The Hayman Center, La Salle’s Basketball facility, exploded after the Men’s basketball team sealed the win over Kansas State Friday afternoon (see related story).

A few hundred students, faculty and alums gathered in the Tom Gola Arena to watch as the Explorers advanced to the round of 32 teams in the NCAA Tournament.

Marianne Gauss has many ties to La Salle. She’s an alum, she married an alum, all her children went to La Salle. She teaches there as well.

“It’s really truly exciting and these are wonderful young men who’ve worked very hard whose been very disciplined, very holistic, I mean they’re students and they’re athletes, and he makes sure that they never lose track of the fact that he’s not coaching them, he’s raising men, and it’s just wonderful to see that kind of effort rewarded,” Gauss said.

La Salle’s next game is Sunday. A watch party will be held again, at the Hayman Center.
