PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Proud La Salle University alumni from throughout the Delaware Valley gathered in Center City last night to watch their team beat Boise State in the play-in round of the NCAA men’s basketball tournament.
Explorer faithful saddled up near the TVs inside Tavern on Broad. Meg Kane, class of 2003 and member of the University’s Board of Trustees, says it’s a day they’ll never forget.
“We are celebrating our 150th anniversary, today is the charter, March 20th. We won the NCAA championship on March 20th in 1954.”
On this March 20th, a the school celebrates a return to the NCAA tournament for the first time since 1992. And their first win in the big dance since 1990.
“I can’t even put it into words what it’s like to be a La Salle Explorer fan tonight.”
“I think it’s our year, 150th anniversary, it’s got to be our year baby! It’s fate.”
Now, their eyes are focused on Friday.
“Kansas State, La Salle is coming at you!”
