PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — Police are looking for two men in connection with a home invasion in the city’s Tacony section early Tuesday morning.
The incident happened at about 3:30 a.m.
Police say a 20-year-old woman inside a home in the 7200 block of Vandike Street woke up to two men carrying handguns and flashlights. She told police they claimed to be police, although they were wearing dark clothing and not uniforms.
The suspects then demanded to know where a safe was. They were able to locate a cash box and took off with $5,000-$10,000 dollars worth of cash and coins. Police say the men then took off.
The woman was not injured.
Neighbors say the woman who used to own the home passed away, and that relatives were staying there and taking care of it.
They were surprised and worried when they heard what happened.
“I’ve got three kids in the house and it makes you nervous,” said Wayne Sienkewicz.
Next door neighbor Steve Kovalenko said, “the neighborhood’s gotten a little rough over the last few years, but nothing like this.”
The manhunt for the two suspects is ongoing.
