NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — Two men have been indicted in the shooting death of a Pennsylvania college student in northern New Jersey.
The shooting occurred last July in Montclair. Villanova University student Brian Schiavetti died from multiple gunshot wounds and was found in an apartment building.
Indicted in the Ridgewood, Conn., resident’s murder are Ernest Williams and James Pitts, both of Montclair.
Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn Murray says the killing resulted from an attempted robbery.
Williams faces, murder, robbery and weapons charges and is due to be arraigned on April 2. He is being held on $750,000 bail.
Pitts is charged with robbery conspiracy and conspiracy to violate narcotics laws. He also faces arraignment on April 2.
It was not known if the defendants had retained attorneys.
