Philadelphia's Population Has Increased By .6 Percent Since 2010 Census

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Philadelphia's population has grown .6 percent since the 2010 Census.

That increase equals about 9,040 residents, and the finding comes from the 2012 Census Bureau's Population Estimates Program (PEP).

"Philadelphia keeps moving in the right direction," said Mayor Michael A. Nutter in a press release. "The dynamism, innovation and diversity of our population is attracting new people to Philadelphia and encouraging residents to want to stay in one of the greatest cities in America. We are proud of the increase in population and continue to take steps to ensure that people want to live here."
