MALVERN, Pa. (CBS) — A large cache of explosives was denoted after being found by the FBI at a storage facility in Chester County.
Authorities say 60 pipe bombs were found in two lockers at a Public Storage Facility along the unit block of Lancaster Avenue in Malvern on Thursday. FBI agents began an unspecified investigation that led them to the storage facility Thursday evening. They spent the night searching for evidence and clearing out the storage units.
The material was found in two lockers at the facility. The dynamite was taken to Valley Creek Park where where it was safely detonated.
Sources say the compartment that was searched last night was rented by a 42-year-old man whose name appears on the rental paperwork agreement.
Sources also tell CBS 3, this man is also being looked at in connection to the discovery of suspicious devices in other parts of the country, but he does not pose a threat to the safety of the public.
No charges have been filed.
Further information about the investigation that led police to the storage facility has not been released.
