The incident occurred on Sunday around 5:15 p.m. outside of the Path Mark supermarket on Church Road in Cherry Hill.
According to police, 24-year-old David A. Zane Jr., of Westville, approached and began speaking with a woman sitting outside of the supermarket before grabbing her purse and attempting to flee.
