PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – The NBA announced on Tuesday that the Sixers will be one of eight NBA teams to participate in pre-season games overseas prior to the 2013-14 season.

The Sixers will play Uxue Bilbao Basket on October 6th in Bilbao, Spain, and will play the Oklahoma City Thunder on October 8th in Manchester, England.

“Providing fans with an authentic NBA experience is an important part of our efforts to grow the game globally,” said NBA Commissioner David Stern in a press release. “This fall, nearly a third of our teams will embark on a global tour that will celebrate the game of basketball, give our international fans a chance to connect with NBA teams and players, and leave a lasting impact in each of the communities we visit.”
