Jogger Killed In Royersford Crash

ROYERSFORD, Pa. (CBS) – A jogger has been killed following a serious crash in Royersford, Montgomery County.

The  accident happened shortly before 3 p.m. Monday in the 400 block of N. Lewis Road.

Authorities say a 39-year-old woman was jogging on the side of the road when she was struck by a vehicle driven by an 18-year-old male.

Witnesses say the driver lost control of the vehicle, crossed the double yellow lines, struck the jogger and then crashed into a utility pole. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver was taken to Phoenixville Hospital for treatment. His injuries were not life-threatening.

Police say the driver of the vehicle told them he was changing the radio station at the time of the accident.

It was not immediately known if charges would be filed against the driver.

The victim did not have identification on her, but police say they have obtained a tentative identification from her cell phone. It is not being released pending confirmation and notification of relatives.
