Horses Safely Removed From Atlantic City Expressway

GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, N.J. (CBS) -- Several horses have been safely removed from the Atlantic City Expressway after causing  a traffic jam Monday night.

New Jersey State police were called out to the AC Expressway around 6 p.m. near mile mark 40 in Gloucester Township.

Approximately four horses were on the loose in the northbound lanes between exits 38 and 41. Traffic was backed up as a result.

It was not immediately clear how the horses entered the roadway.

State police say all of the horses were safely removed from the expressway shortly before 7:30 p.m.
