PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Andrew Bynum may be close to having surgery that will ensure that he does not play for the Sixers this season.
Sixers general manager Tony DiLeo told reporters before Saturday night’s win over the Warriors that Bynum is considering having season-ending arthroscopic surgery on his knee to clean up loose cartilage. DiLeo repeated the news to Dei Lynam before Sunday night’s loss to the Wizards on an interview on Comcast Sportsnet.
Bynum has only practiced once with his teammates this season, participating in a short 5-0 drill and a 5-5 scrimmage just over a week ago. The practice caused swelling in Bynum’s knee, and the halt of all basketball related activity.
