PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – These days, a simple 5K –or even 10K – just doesn’t cut it, and the Tough Mudder is old news.
But a new race with new challenges is hitting the city this summer.
It’s called the Spartan Race, and instead of mud, there’s an extensive obstacle course set up to keep runners on their toes.
Participants will have a chance to run a time trial inside Citizens Bank Park through the elaborate course that was created using both existing stadium structures and specially designed obstacles.
And the kids don’t have to be left out: There’s also Jr. Spartan and Varsity Spartan races, geared towards kids ages 4-13.
The Spartan Race hits Philadelphia on Aug. 31, so start training now.
