Flyers Entertain Washington Tonight

By Matt Leon

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – The Flyers' five-game home stand continues tonight as they welcome the Washington Capitals to town.

Philadelphia is 9-11-1 and coming off a 4-2 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs on Monday night.  With 19 points, the Flyers sit in third place in the Atlantic Division, seven points behind front-running Pittsburgh.

The Capitals actually played last night, beating Carolina 3-0 in one of their better efforts of the season.   But even with that victory, the Capitals are mired in last place in the Southeast Division with 15 points.

This will be the second meeting between these two teams this season.  The Capitals won the first on their home ice, 3-2 was the final back on February 1st.

Forward Simon Gagne is expected to be in uniform tonight.  The veteran was reacquired in a trade with the Kings yesterday.

Ilya Bryzgalov will get the start in net for Philadelphia.

KYW's Matt Leon spoke with Sam Carchidi, Flyers beat writer for the Philadelphia Inquirer, about the match-up.
