Whose-Your-Landlord Gives College Students The Upper Hand

By Tim Jimenez

PHILADELPHIA (CBS)  --  A Temple University senior started a website where college students can sort through good landlords and bad ones.

Finding a place to live can be stressful, especially for a college student, and when you sign the lease there's no guarantee you're paying for the experience you want.

There are websites where renters can post and read reviews, but Temple senior and student body Vice President Ofo Ezeugwu created one just for college kids.

It's called WhoseYourLandlord.com.

Ezeugwu says, "what makes it different from all those other sites that you can rate your landlord or rate the property or rate if the area is really for college students, and information provided for you by your fellow peers."

Ezeugwu stresses it's whose, the possessive version, because it gives ownership to students who may feel powerless.

Temple senior Desmon Hickson uses the site and says it's a way to pay it forward.

Hickson goes on to say, "my landlords that I had were posted on the website so it kind of helps people that come after you so they don't have to go through some of the struggles that you go through."

So far there are listings for Temple University, Drexel University, Pennsylvania university, along with the University of Maryland and George Mason university.
