HOCKESSIN, Del. (AP) — A Delaware school janitor has been arrested on charges that he stole money from the main office of a school that hired him.
New Castle County police say 56-year-old Frederick Lyle, of Elkton, Md., has been charged with burglary, theft and criminal mischief.
Police were called to a school in Hockessin on Tuesday after complaints that someone had stolen money from a pizza fund and a petty cash fund located inside a locked cabinet in the office.
Police say the thefts occurred this month and in October.
Lyle was arraigned and released on bond. A phone listing for Lyle in Elkton had a busy signal Sunday. It wasn’t immediately clear if he had a lawyer.
