LORETTO, Pa. (AP) — Three athletes have been sent home from St. Francis University in central Pennsylvania after a brawl between the school’s football and soccer teams attracted nearly 100 student bystanders.

University spokeswoman Marie Young says three football players and two soccer players were identified as the participants in a fight outside an off-campus but university-owned apartment building. State police are investigating the incident which was reported about 2 a.m. Sunday.

State police from the Ebensburg barracks are investigating, but have yet to say whether any charges have been filed.

Young says three athletes allegedly involved in the fight have been sent home during the university’s judicial review process. Their status as students and team members will be determined through that process.
