Temple Edges UMass 83-82 In Latest One-Pointer
AMHERST, Mass. (AP) — Khalif Wyatt scored 24 points, 17 in the second half, as Temple defeated Massachusetts 83-82 Saturday night in the Owls' fifth consecutive one-point game.
Wyatt's 3-pointer with 9:05 remaining gave Temple (17-8, 6-5 Atlantic 10 Conference) a lead it never relinquished in a game with 16 lead changes and 10 ties.
The Minutemen (16-8, 6-5) got within 83-82 with 1:08 remaining on Freddie Riley's 3-pointer but couldn't get a shot off on their final possession.
Temple has played nothing but one-point games in the month of February, winning previously over Charlotte and Dayton and losing to Saint Joseph's and Duquesne. It's the longest such streak by any team since at least the start of the 1996-97 season, according to STATS LLC.
Anthony Lee had 14 points and Rahlir Hollis-Jefferson 10 points and 11 rebounds for Temple.
Riley scored 17 points and Chaz Williams 16 points and 13 assists for Massachusetts.
