UPDATE: Officials In Montgomery County Release Sketch Of Police Impersonator

LOWER PROVIDENCE TWP., Pa. (CBS) – Police are searching for a man who pulled over a female and impersonated an officer in Montgomery County, and they've now released a sketch of the suspect.

The incident occurred on Monday around 9 p.m. at the intersection of Evansburg Road and Germantown Pike.

Police say a female was driving on Evansburg Road when the suspect activated a blue dashboard mounted light.

Allegedly, after the victim pulled over into a gravel parking lot, the suspect approached her and engaged in conversation.

The suspect has been described as a white male in his fifties with short brown hair. He was wearing a dark uniform with a patch on the sleeve, but no badge.

The vehicle being operated by the suspect is described as a small four door tan vehicle with tinted windows and a blue dashboard mounted light.

Anyone with information, or who has been victimized, should call 610-539-5901.

Police released a sketch of the suspect on Friday, and they also released information warning motorists that vehicles with only blue lights are not authorized to make vehicle stops in Pennsylvania. Both marked and unmarked police vehicles in Pennsylvania must have a combination of red and blue emergency lights.

If you're being signaled to stop by an unmarked vehicle that you believe may not be a police vehicle, you should continue to drive at a slow speed to a safe, well lit, populated area before pulling over. Call 911 to tell them that you believe may not be a police vehicle, and the dispatcher may advise the officer of the reason that you are not stopping. Once you have stopped for an officer in an unmarked car, you may request that a marked police unit respond to the scene to confirm that the unmarked police vehicle is legitimate.
