Ringling Bros. Circus Arrives in Town For Five-Day Run

By Cherri Gregg

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus is in Philadelphia this week.

This afternoon, eight elephants and about a dozen horses casually strolled down 11th Street, from their trailers to their animal homes at the Wells Fargo Center for the next few days.

"We're kicking off a new show, 'Built To Amaze,' celebrating 142 years this year," says animal care specialist Ryan Henning.

He says the name of the tour, "Built To Amaze," isn't just for bragging rights.  He says dozens of clowns, aerialists, the three rings, and more will prove why Ringling Brothers is "The Greatest Show on Earth."

"We've got the elephants busting a move, Gangnam-style," Henning tells KYW Newsradio.  "We've got many, many breeds of horses -- we call that the 'Living Carousel' horse display -- and we've got 18 Bengal tigers in the tiger cage with (animal trainer) Taba (Maluenda)."
