WILMINGTON, Del. (CBS) – Wilmington Police say Officer Justin Wilkers, who was shot in the face last Sunday, has been released from the hospital.

The 34-year-old officer was in serious condition after he was shot during a car chase following a traffic stop. He underwent surgery earlier in the week and was released from the hospital Saturday afternoon.

Wilkers is a three-year veteran of the force.
