BLOG: Ready Those Snowblowers ...

By Kathy Orr

If you are like me and ran out to buy new shovels, sleds, skis or snow blowers after our record winters, you have been waiting two years to use them!

I think we are going to get a chance this weekend.

As two storms approach our area, any snow we might see early Friday morning in the Philadelphia area will mix with rain early as warmer air moves in from our coastal storm.

Friday will be rainy & windy, with a high temperature of 39 degrees. Snow will fall, however, in the Lehigh Valley and the Poconos.

During Friday afternoon and evening, cold air will move in and rain will change over to snow, from North to South.

Friday evening, travel on area roads will become difficult, with blowing snow and reduced visibility. Snow could fall at a rate of 1-2" an hour for a few hours in our warning area and winds will gust to 30 miles-an-hour as two storms combine and intensify.

Three-to-six inches of snow will fall in Philadelphia, with less to the south and east. Expect 6-10 inches as you head into our NW Suburbs, the Lehigh Valley & Poconos.

The snow will end Saturday morning, with a windy high of 37 degrees.

Some sun returns Sunday, with highs in the 40s.

We will keep you updated on any changes!
