Boat Show Opens In Atlantic City

By David Madden

ATLANTIC CITY N.J. (CBS)  -- The thermometer says winter, but they're thinking summer at the annual Atlantic City boat show. The boat show is going on now through the weekend.

The vast majority of the thousands who take in this display can only dream of a life on the water.  Then there are potential buyers like Alan McCauley from Hampton Lakes, NJ. He's looking to replace his boat with something a little smaller, but not today.

McCauley says he just started his own business last year and if this year is a good year, he'll  get a new boat next year.

If you are in the market, there are all kinds of incentives at the boat show.

Retailers know most people around here have larger priorities, like replacing their homes after Superstorm Sandy, so companies are willing to work with them.

Yamaha spokesman Bryan Seti says, "People have an insurance check. They've got money coming in. They want to replace what they have. They're either going to do it here at the show or they're waiting a little bit because where they keep the boat at a marina, it's not up and running yet."
