AUDUBON, NJ (CBS) – A local mayor has entered into a “gentlemen’s wager” over this weekend’s Super Bowl with another mayor in California.
Mayor John Ward, of Audubon, and Mayor John Lazar, of Turlock in California, are long-time supporters of their respective hometown football heroes and the teams they play for. That means Mayor Ward is rooting for Joe Flacco and the Ravens, while Mayor Lazar is supporting Colin Kaepernick and the San Francisco 49ers.
On Thursday, Mayor Ward reached out to Mayor Lazar with a “gentlemen’s wager.” The winning team on Superbowl Sunday will determine which mayor must wear the other’s team’s jersey at their next Council meeting.
While the mayors say they wish both teams luck, only one can win.
