Police ID Woman Killed In Crash On New Jersey Turnpike

BURLINGTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. (AP) -- State police say the wife of a trucker died after her husband lost control of his vehicle and crashed on the New Jersey Turnpike.

Acting Sgt. Adam Grossman says the vehicle overturned and burst into flames in foggy conditions in the southbound lanes in Burlington Township, just north of the Burlington and Mount Holly interchange early Wednesday.

Grossman says the preliminary investigation suggests 67-year-old Joseph Daudi of Asheboro, N.C., initially hit a guardrail.

Daudi escaped with minor injuries. His 67-year-old wife, Glenda, was found dead in the truck's cab.

No word if the weather was a factor and the accident remains under investigation.

A turnpike spokesman says the right lane will likely remain closed for emergency repairs until 3 p.m.
