PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – A suspect remains on the loose after leading Philadelphia police officers on a wild chase that ended with a violent crash early Tuesday morning.

The incident began shortly after midnight in Southwest Philadelphia.

According to investigators, officers attempted to pull over a suspicious vehicle for a traffic violation. Authorities say the driver then took off and led officers on a brief chase that ended when the driver crashed into several parked cars near 46th Street and Springfield Avenue.

After coming to a stop, the driver got out of the car and ran away on foot. A passenger left behind in the car was taken to an area hospital with minor injuries.

No officers were injured.

The incident remains under investigation.
