Wintry Mix For Monday

By Justin Drabick

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Some leftover stubborn cold air will remain in place Monday morning. This will allow for a period of light snow, sleet and freezing rain as the warm front runs into the remaining cold air as lows drop into the mid 20s early Monday.

Expect a mix of light snow, sleet or freezing rain & drizzle to arrive early Monday morning. A coating of snow and light ice accumulation is possible if the cold air remains in place long enough.

Temperatures will rise above freezing by mid-late morning allowing for a few rain showers the rest of the day. Even though amounts will be very light, it only takes a trace of ice to cause slippery conditions on the roads. Also, the arrival of the precipitation will occur during the morning commute, so expect slow travel Monday morning.

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 6 a.m. till 2 p.m. Monday for Philadelphia, New Castle County, DE, Mercer County, New Jersey and the N&W PA suburbs. Areas across central and southern NJ will also see the chance for a light wintry mix, but will changeover to plain rain quicker.

Warmer air will continue to move into the Delaware Valley during the day Monday and continue through, before the next cold front brings back colder air for the end of the week.
