PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Two police officers were injured in an accident Sunday morning while responding to a call in West Philadelphia.
The crash occurred just before 11:30 a.m. at 49th and Chestnut Streets.
According to police, the officers were headed eastbound on Chestnut Street and a civilian vehicle was headed southbound on 49th Street. As both vehicles approached the intersection, the police car tried to swerve to avoid a collision, but struck the other vehicle and then crashed into a utility pole. The civilian vehicle hit a light pole.
The two officers sustained cuts to their face and were suffering from neck pain. They both were taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in stable condition.
The female driver of the civilian vehicle was also transported to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania for evaluation.
No charges have been filed.
