Philadelphia Gun Show Visitors Weigh-In On Gun Control Debate

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Tens of thousands of visitors are expected to attend the Philadelphia Gun Show this weekend at the National Guard Armory as the battle to ban assault weapons continues on Capitol Hill.

Some lawmakers are calling to an end to assault weapons and high-capacity magazines.

"People are afraid their gun rights will be taken away and they want to get them now," said Mal Height, who is with DHF Sales.

Height participates in the gun show every year and says banning guns isn't the answer.

"As far as I'm concerned, they can ban anything they want, it's not going to solve the problem," he said. "There are many different aspects in solving this problem and most of them go to our mental health system."

Larry Spurrier of Levittown, Pa. was at the Gun Show Saturday to buy ammo, but he says he was also there to exercise his Second Amendment Rights:

"I fought for my right. I spent ten years in the military and I don't own assault rifles, which are really not assault rifles if you ask me, but I can't tell everybody else what to do."

Organizers of this Gun Show are expecting the crowd to be double what it was last year.
