VP Biden Takes Gun Control Issue To Social Media

PHILADLEPHIA (CBS) – As Congress considers strict gun control legislation, Vice President Joe Biden took to Google+ Thursday to hear what some of what the social network’s users have to say about the Obama administration’s push for new laws.
“It was proven to be ineffective,” says YouTube host Phil DeFranco. “Assault weapons, as defined by the bill, account for less than one percent of homicides annually.”
Biden says a new ban on such guns won’t be a cure-all, but it could make the streets safer for police.
“I’m much less concerned, quite frankly, about what you call an assault weapon than I am about magazines and the number of rounds that can be held in a magazine,” says Biden.
If clips only held 10 bullets, Biden says mass murderers — like the Sandy Hook killer — might have been slowed.
“Who knows who else might have been alive? Those kids may be alive, some of them,” says Biden.
One life saved is enough to make a case for new regulations, Biden says. And as author Guy Kawasaki asks “What can I do?” Biden says no matter which side you fall on this gun debate, call your rep in Washington.
