COPLAY, Pa. (AP) — Hundreds of customers in eastern Pennsylvania have been enduring the freezing weather without gas service.
UGI said Wednesday afternoon that crews were trying to restore gas service to about 1,000 customers in the borough of Coplay in Lehigh County as well as a small section of Whitehall Township.
Spokesman Joseph Swope said a regulator station lost pressure and forced shutdown of the system to make repairs. He said that problem has been resolved, but all customers will likely not have service back until sometime Thursday morning.
The American Red Cross has set up a shelter at the borough hall for residents trying to stay warm or looking for a place to spend the night.
Lows were forecast to be below 10 degrees overnight.
