Man Sought In Theft Of Cookie Sale Money From Girl Scouts

By Robin Rieger

BERWYN, Pa. (CBS) -- Investigators are searching for a suspect who decided to use a Girl Scout troop as his target for a heartless robbery over the weekend.

Police say fourth grade Girl Scouts from New Eagle Elementary School were selling Girl Scout cookies at the Pathmark in Berwyn at about 5 p.m. Sunday.

According to investigators, the suspect approached members of Girl Scout Troop 4305 at their table set up for cookie sales.

The suspect took an undetermined amount of cash from a plastic donation container collected for United States Military Service People.

The suspect then forcibly reached into a cash box containing money from the sales of the Girl Scout cookies and stole approximately $20.

The quick actions of the Girl Scouts in closing the box denied the suspect further access to additional cash.

The suspect then ran away and drove off in a blue car. He is described as a white male, 20 to 30 year-of-age with a medium build. He was wearing a dark-colored head covering, with a dark-colored shirt and light colored pants.
