1 Dead, 1 Hospitalized After 2 Separate Car Accidents In North, Northeast Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Police are investigating the cause of two separate accidents that occurred in Philadelphia early Sunday morning.


The first incident occurred around 2 a.m. at the intersection of 2nd and Somerset Streets in the Fairhill section of the city.

According to police, two cars collided at the intersection, sending one person to Temple University Hospital in an unknown condition.


The second accident occurred around 4:16 a.m. on Woodhaven Road near Knights Road in Northeast Philadelphia.

Police say 25-year-old Ashley Aldworth, female driver lost control of her 2005 Hyundai Tucson while headed eastbound on Woodhaven Road and struck the guard rail. The car then flipped over and went down the embankment, says police.

The female was taken to Frankford Aria Hospital where she was pronounced at 4:54 a.m.
