HARRISBURG, Pa. (CBS) — The Pennsylvania Health Department says the number of flu cases is on the rise, but the number of hospitalizations is down.
There were 5,059 flu cases across Pennsylvania last week, up from 4,256 cases the previous week.
And 433 people were hospitalized last week, down from 511 the week before.
Eighteen flu-related deaths were reported last week, bringing the total to 40 deaths for this flu season. According to the health department, most of the deaths involved people over 65, and none involved children.
The Pennsylvania Health Department updates its numbers weekly, on Tuesdays.
