Newly Engaged Couples Consider National Constitution Center As Possible Venue

By Mike Dougherty

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - The National Constitution Center is showing newly engaged couples that it's not just filled with history -- it's also a place to make history.

Great views of Independence Mall, high ceilings and romantic lighting make this a perfect setting for a dream wedding, according to Kellie Brielmaier, director of special events at the Constitution Center. She's giving couples a sample of what their big day could look like if they decide to celebrate it here.

"It helps for them to see the space when we're closed to the pubic and there aren't school kids running around and exhibits and all of that. They get to see the space at a time like it would for their actual wedding."

This is the first of five open houses the Constitution Center hosts annually, usually after popular engagement dates. The next one follows Valentine's Day.

Recently engaged couple Rachel and Carl are impressed with the setup.

"We were just talking about how much we love the view. And it has the wow factor. We have a lot of out of town guests coming in that might not have been to the Philadelphia area before, so this will wow them."

Angela and Sieg agree.

"It's awesome. I like how it's set up. I love the view, the big windows," Angela said. It's very natural and neutral inside, so I like that as well. And it has the history of Philadelphia, so you can't go wrong."

Catering and photography representatives were also on hand to discuss menu and package options as well as answer questions.
