PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — An impressive collection of Buster Keaton movies is now being released to Blu-ray.
The well-worn “Buster Keaton Collection” of silent films goes back to the early 1920s. It’s a rare find of comedy gems, in one of the earliest collections of the works of a movie pioneer.
Keaton, you may know, was a member of a prominent film-making family. He got the nickname “Buster” from none other than Harry Houdini, who witnessed Keaton as a six-year-old manage to survive a miraculous tumble down a steep flight of stairs.
The 14-disk “Buster Keaton Collection” perhaps gives the so-called “master of comedy” an additional title: “Masters of Silent Pictures.”
