SEASIDE HEIGHTS, NJ (CBS) – Police say a Seaside Heights man who was attempting to show his patriotism ended up in handcuffs on Tuesday morning.
The man, described by Seaside Heights Police Chief Thomas Boyd as a climber and a surfer, allegedly took his boat out to the partially submerged coaster, climbed to the top and hung an American flag from the ride, which ended up in the Atlantic after Superstorm Sandy.
The U.S. Coast Guard initially responded to the scene, but authorities say the man is now in police custody.
