$10,000 Reward Offered To Catch Vandals In West Philadelphia Tire Slashing Spree

By Steve Beck, Dray Clark

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – A $10,000 reward is being offered to catch the vandals in an early morning tire-slashing spree that happened in West Philadelphia.

The City of Philadelphia is offering $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the vandals and the Fraternal Order of Police is offering an additional $5,000 for information leading just to the arrest of the suspects responsible for slashing tires on nearly 60 vehicles, according to police.

The acts of vandalism happened early Monday morning in the 4900-5100 blocks of Hazel Avenue and the 5300 block of Chancellor Street in West Philadelphia.

Investigators say approximately 48 cars had their tires slashed on Hazel Avenue and another eight were vandalized on Chancellor Street.

A neighbor supplied surveillance video that caught one of the suspects in the act.

Detectives spent Monday morning combing the scene for possible fingerprints and went door-to-door interviewing victims.

So far, no arrests have been made. Anyone with information is urged to contact police.
