CSS Makes More Changes Across The 5 County Philadelphia Region

By John McDevitt

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Limited resources has Catholic Social Services (CSS) making some changes across the five county Philadelphia region. The merging of operations, management and in some cases facilities are part of the plan.

The Archdiocese of Philadelphia says in order to effectively help those in need a restructuring plan has been announced which includes closures and consolidations.

The Springfield Delaware County Center in Holy Cross Parish will close and merge with the Chester City Family Services Center.

"A number of the Springfield staff transferred to Chester, or will transfer, and we will wind down our services in Springfield, but even after we wind down we will maintain our counseling services there and work with the pastor," says James Amoto, the Deputy Secretary for Catholic Social Services.

And he says West Grove Family Services Center in Chester County will shut down and partner with an outreach program at nearby St. Rocco Parish in Avondale.
