SPRING MOUNT, Pa. (CBS) -- Learning to ski or snowboard is only minutes away from home for most of us in the Philadelphia area.
And now, snow is on the hill!
The trails are snow covered, lifts are running, and ski classes are lining up at Spring Mountain, in the heart of Montgomery County.
"All our instructors love kids. They love teaching," says Rick Buckman, who owns and operates the mountain where the lion's share of area skiers and snowboarders took their very first turns.
And parents are just as excited.
"He took a lesson for the first time when we came, and now he's pretty good," one mother says of her son.
A big attraction is the after-school experience, with skiing and riding under the lights until 9pm.

Buckman says the kids will have little reason to stay home.
"Get them out in the fresh air, get them off the couch or from in front of their computers!" he says.
And what's new this year? For the grownups, Spring Mountain was expected to have a liquor license by the end of the month.
