SEPTA Adding Extra Regional Rail Service For New Year's Eve Celebrations

By Hadas Kuznits

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - SEPTA is adding extra regional rail service for New Year's eve celebrations.

SEPTA spokesperson Andrew Busch says they've added additional late trains so that folks are able to return home to the suburbs after the midnight fireworks or other Philadelphia new year's celebrations:

"What SEPTA is offering for New Year's Eve travelers is extra service both from Philadelphia for the New Year's celebrations there and we also have some service available for people who would be returning from Times Square in New York City."

He says most trains will have about an extra hour to hour and half worth of service:

"It varies by line but in general the trains running from Philadelphia are running past midnight ranging anywhere from 1:30am to close to 2:00am on some of the trains departing Center City, and then on the Trenton line service, that service is available through the night."
